Currently the most popular degradable materials are PLA and PBAT, which are fully biodegradable. According to relevant general standards, the biodegradation performance of degradable plastics is tested under certain conditions, the test condition is a relatively high humidity of 58°C ±2°C, and full biodegradation can be achieved within 90 days.

In such an environment, artificial composting can be achieved, and the natural environment takes longer. Taking PLA as an example, its degradation cycle is highly dependent on the provided degradation environment, such as temperature, humidity, microbial population, pH, etc. Normally, it can degrade within a year.

PLA materials are suitable for degradation in high temperature environments, and artificial composting conditions need to be provided, because the microbial content is high, and the soil can provide a suitable degradation environment.
